Keys For The Future
Today marks my first 2 months in Stockholm and I wanted to share a little update.
These 2 months have been some of the best of my life, and mostly due to one word — community.
I didn’t really know what to expect moving to a coliving space. Arriving to a new city where you know barely anyone is very daunting.
I've grown and learned so much thanks to the friendships I’ve developed through coliving.
Most importantly, I’ve discovered a deep love for community building. I’ve found an unknown joy for helping people bond and grow with each other.
And these 2 months have been very active.
I organized over 30 events ranging from flow practices to workshops, open mics, dinners, community circles, Swedish celebrations… All that I felt called to create!
In a world that has become increasingly isolating and divisive, I believe that physical communities are one of our key solutions.
Human beings thrive when they are connected to like-minded peers and feel supported by networks of friends and allies.
Community is a superpower in today’s world.
We grow at a far vaster scale through co-creating and collaborating with others.
When you give from your heart to the people around you, the return is far more enriching than anything money can buy.
So this is where I see the most hope for humankind — through groups of diverse people coming together to connect, share, and support each other.
If you don’t know any physical communities around you, take the initiative and start with small steps.
A few practical tips:
Look up groups and events on relevant sites and apps. For example, Meetup is mostly free and works very well in Stockholm.
Move to a co-living or a community space. This is the most direct and effective path (look up “Transformational Communities” on Medium).
Join clubs or associations according to your curiosity and interests (try new activities), and become an active member there.
Let go of technology and connect in real life.
Very soon, you’ll find other people that are seeking the exact same thing as you!
