The Long Way

The Long Way
Alexandre Gagnard

6 years ago, almost to this date, I created my own business.

Ever since I finished my graduate degree in International Relations and Asian Affairs, I knew there was another path I wanted to take.

This article is about the long way towards our dreams.

It is a rare few that choose to let go of comfort and follow a path with countless unknowns in it. Yet, I feel that this is something we all truly long for.

Few of us want to live in a system that constrains us into limited choices in order to survive.

I’ve come to believe that we all carry a spark in our soul of something we wish to create in this life. It may not necessarily be a business. It can be any dream that does not fade away with time.

The greatest death for me is compromise — compromising our deepest longings in order to fit in and feel safe.

Whereas I understand perfectly why we do something like this, I know from experience that the costs do not outweigh the benefits.

As of June 2026, I feel I’ve finally come to a place of maturity in my business.

What was for a long time a dream and an ideal feels closer to reality than it ever has. In fact, it feels like it is already happening and cannot fail.

The whole goal of this article is not to boast about myself.

The goal is to remind you that anything you wish is possible.

It may take time. You will probably have to face many shadows on your way and take risks. Most of all, it may involve you opening up to others and asking for help. It was the case for me.

The collective consciousness around dreams and true longings is rather weak. The message is often to be realistic, to adapt ourselves to our environments in order to survive.

But what if you came here knowing this and having a higher purpose to rise beyond these limitations?

It is said that there are countless timelines available to us. Depending on our choices and our state of being, we choose which we align ourselves with.

You can see this all around you. People who give up too early and are swallowed up by their fears.

And equally, we see people rising above tremendous challenges while maintaining an open heart.

You are capable of so much more that you have been led to believe.

As I look back on these 6 years, I see all the periods of doubt that plagued me. All the work I did on myself to feel confident in my abilities.

This path is not easy, yet, it is possible. As Goethe said it well, “Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.”

The same is true for all of us.

If you believe in yourself, in the dream you hold in your soul, you can make anything happen.

Again, this is not an easy statement. You will be challenged on your way, especially by your fears and your surroundings.

But remember, the cost of not following your authentic path is the cost of a life not fully lived.

I am convinced that this potential exists in you, as in all human beings.

Do not be impatient. Massive changes often come subtly, not in big flashes. They stem from the roots, and in time, become radiant, unshakable trees.

If there is any spark in you right now, a dream you hold onto, don’t give up on it. Don’t let your external circumstances dictate where your life goes.

Alchemy is the transformation of shadow into light. It is the act of bringing awareness to what is unseen and unloved.

For those willing to go into their inner chambers and rediscover their innate joyfulness, life carries a whole different meaning.

We are constantly given invitations to leap, and take risks to follow the soulful path.

We are constantly being guided back to ourselves, if we choose to listen.

The soul in you did not come for an unconscious life.

It did not come to let others decide for you.

Nor did it come to suffer.

You came here to radiate.

To break shackles.

To follow joy.

There is an old saying that goes: “Magic is doing nothing outside of your true nature.”

This is your highest potential.

Not fitting in. Not playing by the rules.

But being a rebel and following your true nature.

So let’s get started shall we?

We’ve waited long enough.
